In January 2020, Addo Foundation set out to complete the 2nd Phase of the rebuilding of the Ghana market, meeting and subsequently collaborating with an American architectural firm in New York City well regarded and awarded for their work in creating sustainable building structures that consider the cultural and health of the communities in which they serve. However, due to the COVID crisis, the project was temporarily halted.

MICAH project & Phase 2In the Spring of 2020 following Addo Foundation collaborated with MICAH Project Heal (Health through Early Awareness & Learning).
In the Spring of 2021, the Addo Foundation Inc. and Leeds Architectural Firm in NYC resumed talks to continue collaboration on the project and fundraising to purchase the raw the materials needed to rebuild the market, including the purchase of 40 containers measured at 40 feet apiece. |
EducationEach year, the Addo Foundation Inc. chooses a program or project to support and advance the mission of the organization in the fall of 2020, Addo foundation had an online Fundraiser at Southbridge Fitness Center, where we raised $1.200 in response to the COVID crises in New York City for 3 public schools in our area in Brooklyn. The theme of the fundraiser was Hope, Faith & Dreams. The purpose of this theme was to encourage and motivate students and teachers at local K-12 schools in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The foundation chose 3 schools in total to award $300 and beautiful Hopes, Faith & Dreams wooden plaque. Due to the COVID crisis, the Foundation was unable to present the checks and plaques to the school closures. however plans are underway to have the funds and plaques to be presented to each school in the fall of 2021, when schools are scheduled to return to in person learning.
Addo Foundation is currently collaborating with Columbia University Community Based Participatory Research program that is collaborating on a joint project to explore health screening habits of residents in marginalized communities. |
Addo Foundation response to COVID Pandemic…
Over the summer of 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic, Monifa Maat and Martin Addo trained to become certified Community Health Advisors through the Addo Foundation partnership with Mt. Sinai Hospital - Center for Spirituality & Health on a special program MICAH Project HEAL (Health through early Awareness & Learning) through screening.
